Rise of Kingdoms Early Resource Priorities: Plan Builds, Research, and Troop Training

There is no safe permanent resource tier list for every Rise of Kingdoms account. The game’s current UI shows the real cost and prerequisite for the action in front of you, and official updates describe resources being used for research, building, and training. The useful early-game skill is deciding which of those actions matters next—not memorising a value table that could age badly.

Start with the next real requirement

Before you spend resources, open the building, research, or training screen you are considering and read its displayed requirements. Then ask one question: what does this action unlock or improve for my account right now?

Use the answer to sort the action into one of three groups:

  • Immediate progression: it unlocks the next city or account step you genuinely intend to take.
  • Near-term support: it prepares a requirement you will soon need for that next step.
  • Optional spending: it may be useful later, but it does not currently solve a constraint.

Prioritise the first group, prepare the second, and delay the third until you have a clearer reason. This is more reliable than calling one resource “always best.”

Build a small spending plan before you gather

Gathering without a target often creates a pile of resources that does not address the actual bottleneck. Instead, choose a pending action and make a short plan:

  1. Note the resource types and prerequisites shown in the current client.
  2. Check whether a building, research action, or troop queue is the true gate.
  3. Focus your next gathering and inventory decisions on that gate.
  4. Recheck the plan when the task completes or a prerequisite changes.

This keeps resource choices connected to visible progress. It also prevents an old online recommendation from pushing you toward an upgrade your account cannot use yet.

Do not treat building, research, and training as separate budgets

The three systems compete for the same early attention. A long building project may be the best next step if it unlocks what you need; at another moment, the research screen or troop training queue may show the more immediate constraint.

Avoid starting several expensive actions simply because resources are available. Leave yourself enough flexibility to respond to the next displayed requirement. When you are unsure, start the action that has a clear purpose and keep the rest available until you can inspect the next step.

Use the current inventory information

Official Rise of Kingdoms updates have added resource statistics to the inventory interface. Use the information shown in your client to understand what you hold and what a proposed action will consume. Do not rely on old screenshots for inventory labels, totals, or conversions; interface details can change.

The same caution applies to resource packs and speedups. This guide does not recommend purchases, bundle timing, or event-specific spending. Those are commercial or patch-sensitive decisions, not evergreen progression advice.

Common early resource mistakes

Three habits create avoidable stalls:

  • Spending first and checking the next prerequisite afterward.
  • Following a universal upgrade order without comparing it to your account’s current requirements.
  • Treating every available action as urgent instead of selecting one real objective.

The fix is a short pause before each commitment. Read the current cost, name the outcome you expect, and skip the action if it does not support that outcome.

Pair resource planning with a beginner routine

Resource decisions make more sense when they sit inside a broader city-and-map routine.
