Project Entropy throws a lot at new commanders in the first few days. Here is what is actually worth prioritizing, based on how the game's own systems are structured.

Finish the early story chapters first

Several account features, including Mailbox access for claiming gift-code rewards, unlock specifically after Chapter 3 of the main story. Push through the early chapters before spending much time optimizing anything else — you are unlocking core account functionality, not just narrative content.

Join an active alliance early

Independent monetization analysis of the game specifically notes that a coordinated free-to-play alliance can out-compete a disorganized alliance full of paying players. Alliance membership is where free players get the most value in this game relative to spenders, so do not delay joining one while you evaluate options solo.

Be deliberate about limited-time hero banners

The single biggest soft-paywall moment in Project Entropy is FOMO on limited-time hero summon banners, where premium currency (Star Chips) improves your odds at the strongest heroes. As a free player, decide in advance which banners you actually want to save resources for rather than spreading currency thin across every one that appears — meta heroes rotate, and chasing all of them is a losing strategy for a non-spender.

Don't over-invest in your first mech loadout

Early modification parts (weapon, propulsion, armor and navigation systems) are meant to be replaced quickly as you progress. Avoid spending scarce upgrade materials maxing out your very first loadout pieces — better versions arrive fast enough that early over-investment is largely wasted.

Redeem gift codes as soon as you can

Once your Mailbox is unlocked, check FunPlus's official Discord for active gift codes and redeem them promptly — they are case-sensitive and expire quickly, and typically grant coins and Drop Pods rather than anything you need to plan around.
